about

New York’s own emerging artist Carolyn Miller has been preparing her whole life for her next role - that of a country music singer. Having been on stage performing professionally since the age of eight, she’s excited to not only make her unique mark on country music, but to finally be playing herself.

A graduate of the Boston Conservatory at Berklee College of Music, Miller is a veteran member of SAG/AFTRA/AEA and has celebrated an impressive career over the years in not only film and TV, but also on stage and through voice-overs and commercials.

Hungry for more and inspired by friends who were using YouTube as a creative outlet, she set out to make a few of her own. With her first three videos, Miller received nearly 650,000 hits combined. It garnered her thousands of new fans worldwide who surprisingly started pushing to hear original music. “The outpouring of positive feedback encouraged me so much that I wanted to explore this other side of myself that I never even knew existed,” Miller explains.

When it came time to deciding what type of music she wanted to work on, it was a no-brainer. It was without hesitation country music. Despite being from Long Island where it was never on the radio, she always gravitated toward the genre because of the storytelling, the weight of lyrics and melody, along with the authenticity of the performers and vulnerability the songs displayed. “It felt very natural from all my years of being an actress,” she said. “You’re taught to be truthful, so it felt very natural for me to express my truth on a stage through country music.”

Eager to learn everything about the genre and make up for years of not being exposed to it, she left family and work to visit Music City once a month. “I knew that if I wanted to do this and be taken seriously in the country music industry, I had to commit and dedicate myself to the Nashville community. I wanted to visit as much as possible to learn from the heart of the country music community and was always planning my next trip before I even left the city,” she confessed. An uncommon combination of seasoned pro and veteran of the stage, but complete novice in the country music business, it was a challenge she’s up to take on.

After a year of prep and self-education, Miller released her debut EP, Unbreakable this past summer independently. Featuring five songs written by hit songwriters (including Shane Stevens - "American Honey”), the collection of music showcases her undeniable talent and is proof of her passion and determination. Influenced by country-pop artists like Carrie Underwood and Faith Hill and along with pop icons Kelly Clarkson and Adele, Miller has taken her own big, powerful voice to create her own style that captures the true essence of country-pop.

With Unbreakable, Carolyn Miller’s hard work is already beginning to pay off. The EP debuted during pre-order at #7 on iTunes Country charts and has had radio play on major FM/AM radio stations around the Northeast. “If you told me this is what I would be doing five years ago, I would never have believed it. I’m just thankful to be on this crazy journey.” Adding, “I feel like everything has led me to this moment; all the years behind the mic recording voice-overs, acting in musicals, going on countless auditions, being told yes, being told no, learning strong work ethic and discipline from juggling school with a career as a kid; these all added fuel to this fire and were my stepping stones preparing me for what’s to come. I love waking up everyday and knowing I’m one step closer to jumpstarting this adventure. It’s just the beginning. I can’t wait to share this side of myself that’s never been shared before.”

Carolyn is currently in the studio putting the finishing touches on new music, selling out shows around New York City, and opening for major label artists in the Tri-State area. For more information, visit CarolynMillerMusic.com and connect on socials @carolynmillermusic.
